There are six guiding principles that provide the foundational philosophy for the Partners In Leadership Executive Coaching Process:

Coach in the Context Of Current Organizational Issues

Leadership development is most effective and occurs most quickly when applied in the context of current organizational issues the leader is working to resolve. The process will focus on helping the leader achieve key organizational results.

Maintain Anonymity And Establish Accountability

A certain level of anonymity in the leadership development process is essential for the leader to feel the necessary confidence to work openly on leadership opportunities. It is also essential to balance the need for anonymity with the requirement for accountability. Leaders will develop a Leadership Proficiency® Plan, which will provide a platform of coaching and feedback between them and their immediate supervisor.

Create Team Transparency

Leadership development best occurs when the process is transparent to the leader's team and other key stakeholders. Effectively enrolling team members, and other key stakeholders, to support and participate (i.e., via Focused Feedback® exchanges and Team Member Observation) in the leader's development objectives accelerates progress and creates sustainability.

Coaching Requires Training

Learning is essential to improvement, and training is essential to effective coaching. The Partners In Leadership 5 D's® Fast Training Model's® employed in the coaching process accelerates the development of needed leadership skills (1. Describe It, 2. Demonstrate It, 3. Do It, 4. Debrief It, 5. Do It Again, But Better).

Create Competency In The Content

Leaders become even more proficient in applying the Partners In Leadership® Accountability Training® content in their daily leadership practice. Executive coaches will coach to the models and tools, helping leaders learn how to get the most out of the training investment they have already made.

Create Team Accountability

While "expert-to-team" coaching is important, establishing effective "peer-to-peer" and "leader-to-direct report" coaching is also essential. The Executive Coaching Process helps leaders establish coaching and feedback within the team and creates Team Accountability for leadership development.

These guiding principles differentiate the Partners In Leadership approach to executive coaching and provide the basis for a proven process that produces results: better leaders who achieve better results.
